The St. Joseph Speech and Debate Team is a tournament team that competes in the areas of public speaking, debate, acting and oral interpretation. The team participates in area and statewide competitions with both public and private schools. Some of the events the students compete in include duet and solo acting, group interpretation, record pantomime, poetry and prose reading, oratory, debate, extemporaneous speaking, etc.
 
The Speech and Debate Team elects officers annually, and students may letter in speech by earning points of merit.

Other activities the St. Joseph Speech and Debate Team is involved in is presenting programs for school assemblies and community organizations, participating in speaking contests (Voice of Democracy, Rotary, etc.), judging at speech tournaments and taking an annual field trip to a professional performance.

The Speech and Debate Team is open to all students with an interest in speech, drama and debate, you need not have any prior experience.
