A Personal Message from the Assistant Principal
Welcome to the Office of the Assistant Principal. My primary responsibilities include: helping the President/Principal and others to lead and administer school programs at STJ; working with teachers and staff to improve the academic and co-curricular programs; and, serving as the Dean of Students.
Serving as Dean of Students is my most important responsibility as the Assistant Principal. Primarily, my role as the Dean of Students involves working with and guiding our student body to maintain responsible conduct and citizenship, regular school attendance with the fewest possible absences, and "shepherding " the student body to help keep each student on the correct path to school success and eventual graduation.
My philosophy in working with young adults includes using a positive, teaching approach, focusing on reminders and prevention, as well as relating school responsibilities of our students to the world of college and adult life. Each day I strive to help our students understand the meaning and importance of Christian character and Christian living, as well as the importance of their academic studies and school-related activities.
While working daily with our students, and with educators and others, I continually share and convey my strong conviction that academic study and intellectual development is largely wasted on any person who is lacking in moral character, honesty, integrity and other Christian virtues. Thus my own personal and professional values as a Christian educator, are manifested through my strongly held belief that, although one's mind and intellect must be developed, the heart must be developed as well, with compassion for others, in preparation for a successful and worthwhile adult life.
Professionally yours in Christ,
Dale Summitt, Assistant Principal
