St. Joseph High School
A Nationally Accredited, Exemplary High School

St. Joseph High School is accredited by The Texas Catholic Conference Education Department and the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Council on Accreditation and School Improvement (SACS CASI), the accreditation division of AdvancED. STJ has been accredited by the State of Texas since 1939. The Texas Catholic Conference Education Department (TCCED) supervises and directs the accreditation process through the Diocesan Superintendent of Catholic Schools.

As recently as the 2012-13 school year, St. Joseph High School participated in a self-study process and received full approval for accreditation from the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Council on Accreditation and School Improvement (SACS CASI), the accreditation division of AdvancED.

St. Joseph High School is the only school in the Diocese of Victoria with this national accreditation. The purpose is to assure all stakeholders that a standard of excellence is preserved in the school and that a continuous plan for improvement is being implemented.

As part of the process, an external review team evaluates the school based on the standards set by AdvancED. The standards focus on systems within a school and systematic methods of obtaining high student performance and organizational effectiveness.  St. Joseph received over 60 percent ratings of 4 for exemplary and the remaining ratings of 3 for outstanding. Dr. Gary Short, the chair of the team, said "this is one of the finest reports I have had the privilege of passing on to the national headquarters in all my years of accreditation visits. It has been a professional blessing to be here."

A few excerpts from the report include:

"In interviews with faculty and staff members, it became clear that the school is blessed to have a very cohesive group of professionals who truly live the mission and purpose of the school. All hold high expectations for the students and encourage the students to meet high standards in all courses of study. Leadership, faculty, and staff all clearly see their roles as contributing to the positive culture of the school and the continuous improvement of all programs. A high level of collaboration between all stakeholders is clearly identifiable to all who come in contact with the school."

"The high ratings demonstrate that the school is doing an excellent job of applying research-based, best practices in the classroom, in addition to working collaboratively with the stakeholders to continuously improve the school's programs and services."
